What is Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are professionals who work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults (ASHA, 2019).
About speech-language pathology
Speech and Language are classified by different cognitive skills. Speech disorders occur when there is a difficulty with the production of speech sounds, the fluency of speech, or has difficulties with creating appropriate resonance or vocal quality. Language disorders occur when there is difficulty understanding written or spoken language (receptive), or sharing thoughts, words, and ideas (expressive) with others (ASHA, 2019).
how do i know if my child would benefit from SLP services?
Often times, your child’s PCP or teacher may notice any concerns that might arise in your child’s communicative skills. However, if your child has fallen behind in developmental milestones, has difficulty producing sounds (articulation) or classes of sounds (phonology); has difficulty understanding directions or questions (receptive); is a “late talker” or has difficulty formulating words, sentences or organizing language (expressive); has difficulty maintaining fluent speech (stuttering); demonstrates hoarse and harsh vocal quality or hypo- or hyper-nasal quality in voicing for speech (voice and/or resonance).
What is music therapy?
The American Music Therapy Association defines Music Therapy as the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program (AMTA, 2019).

Music Therapy is not limited to children with special needs. Music Therapy can benefit anyone who is interested in increasing socialization opportunities, increasing academic concepts or basic concepts, or looking to increase play skills, self-expression, and self-confidence.
What services am i licensed and certified to provide?
I am licensed and certified to provide Speech and Language services. I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and have received my CCC’s (Certificate of Clinical Competence) from ASHA, the governing body for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
I am certified to provide Music Therapy services. I am Board Certified in the field of Music Therapy and hold the MT-BC credentials awarded by the Certification Board of Music Therapists, and AMTA the American Music Therapy Association.
