Angela Farster, CCC-SLP, MT-BC

I have been a musician my whole life. I started playing the piano when I was just about 4 years-old and can still remember learning the C-Major scale on my mother’s organ.

In College, I found a great passion for Speech and Language and facilitating communication for individuals with different abilities. I could never quite turn off the curiosity about music and why my clients were responding so much to anything provided through music.

Enter Music Therapy!!! Studying and becoming Board Certified confirmed all of the suspicions I had about why music was so successful in facilitating communication! Rhythm is organizing, melody is expressive, music is predictable. Music is neurologically intuitive, our bodies move, our brains focus, and we become free to express ourselves.

Musical development is like a mirror to language development. When incorporated with other developmentally appropriate activities, like play, music assists in unlocking our abilities to communicate and relate to one another.
